How it works

One person opens kutuverse.com and creates a room. Everyone else joins by scanning the QR code or opening the link — on a phone, a tablet or a laptop, whatever they already have. Nobody makes an account, nobody downloads anything, and the game runs directly between your devices rather than on a company's server.

Short of players? Add computer players to fill the table, or play the whole thing on one device and pass it round.

How to play Scuffle

Goal

Each player commands a hero, and maybe sidekicks. Knock out the enemy hero — take their health to 0 — to win.

Your turn

Take exactly 2 actions (the same one twice is fine): Maneuver, Scheme or Attack. At the end of your turn, discard down to 7 cards.

Maneuver

Draw a card, then move each of your fighters up to your move value, one after another. You may BOOST first: discard a card and add its ⚡ value to your move. You can pass through your own fighters but never through enemies, and must stop on an empty space. An empty deck is never reshuffled — each card you can't draw costs every one of your fighters 2 health.

Scheme

Play a 📜 scheme card with a fighter allowed to use it, and do what it says.

Attack

Pick an attacker and a target. Melee fighters hit only the spaces next to them; ranged fighters also hit anyone in a zone of the same colour. The attack card goes face down, the defender may answer with a defense card, then both are revealed.

Combat

Effects resolve in order — Immediately, During combat, the damage, then After combat — with the defender's effect first whenever both happen at once. Damage is the attack value minus the defense value. The attacker wins the combat by dealing any combat damage; otherwise the defender wins.

Card banners

Each card says who may use it: the hero, the sidekick, or any fighter. A card you can no longer play can still be discarded to BOOST.

Three or four players

Free-for-all: on your first turn you may only attack the next player or someone who has already played; a player whose hero falls is out, sidekicks and all; the last hero standing wins. Teams (four players): your teammate's fighters are friendly, you keep playing with your sidekick after your hero falls, and a team loses when both of its heroes are down.
